I was invited by Delicious PR to the Press Launch of Thai Express in Birmingham, Grand Central on the 14th of June 2018.
I got there for 6pm, just in time for welcome drinks and starters.
Thai Express is a Canadian store which made its way to the UK thanks to Uzma & Sachin, the owners. Uzma is a brilliant entrepreneur and noticed a gap in the market; quick yet tasty Thai food. This is something they are proud of.
This was the first store to be opened in the Midlands and 5th in the UK.
In their stores, you can see your food being freshly prepared. An open kitchen is always a good idea; I am always intrigued to see how my food is being made.
Thai Express U.K. serve a range of authentic Thai dishes including Vegan and Gluten Free. They tailor their dishes to your taste (including spice level) and believe in serving great food using the finest fresh ingredients. Prices are competitive and perfect for that lunch to go.
On the press night, they had 3 waitresses dressed in Thai attire. It added to the vibrant atmosphere in the restaurant. All the staff I came across were focused and upbeat.
The decor in store is Instagram Friendly (always a winner) and it has a welcoming feel to it.
On the back of the store there is a garden feature wall and along the side beautiful murals and neon lighting. Each of Uzmas stores has a picture of her son(in a parachute) and daughter (on a tuk tuk) which makes it really personal to her. The fact that Uzma and her husband made an effort to talk to everyone about the background was inspiring and just went to show their passion for the store.
The Birmingham store has a seating area or if not you can take away your meal in their super cute boxes.
On the evening they had a good selection of dishes we could sample.
Out of the ones I tried my favourite were the sweet and sour chicken starter, the papaya salad and the Pad Thai. I was too full up to try the curries but they looked tempting.
All the dishes had a unique and different flavour to them and were prepared with care. I find it hard to get a good papaya salad but this one was spot on. (It did make me relive my moment in Thailand).
In addition to the constant flow of bubbly on the night, we could have their speciality soft drink “Bec Cola”. This is a cola sweetened with Maple Syrup. I have never tried it before and it went well with all the Thai food I sampled. If you love maple syrup then you got to try this.
It was a great evening. Thank you to Thai Express and Delicious PR.
