Everyone in Leicester knows when you want a good burger go to Crafty Burgers. Their sister restaurant King Richard III now has a Crafty Chicks takeover for the next 3 months….the perfect place for Chicken Lovers!
Saying that, they do also offer Vegetarian and Vegan options – you just need to ask.
Atmosphere & Service
There is a good buzz in the restaurant and the service is friendly. The restaurant has a relaxed atmosphere too and is suitable for all ages. They have a pretty beer garden too where you can enjoy your meal or just have a drink.
The staff are friendly however the service can be slightly slow at times – sometimes the best things come to those who wait right?
They have lovely window art that goes with the whole “chick” theme. The décor inside is a bit shabby chic; funky floor tiles and wooden furniture.
Four of us went to Crafty Chicks on their soft launch. We did not know what to order so got a bit of everything. ( If you read my previous post you may have noticed I am always indecisive). I could have had everything from the menu!
All their chicken are corn-fed and halal.
The food portions are generous and it value for money. It is not the cheapest of places to have fried chicken but the ambience, quality and taste justifies the price.
Our food order for 4 people:
– 500 grams of chicken wings with Katsu Curry Mayo
– Half Chicken
– Seoul Chick
– Masa Chicken Taco x 2
– Crafty Poutine x 2
– Cucumber Kimchi
– Fried pickles
– Katsu Sando
– Buttermilk Chicken Tenders
– Chilli Chinese Greens
As you can tell we had a bit of everything! I can safely say I have eaten and tried a lot from their menu and give it a thumbs up. You don’t need to worry about leaving hungry..
On my next visit I will just order a main and maybe a starter to share.
I like Crafty Chicks because it is different to other chicken restaurant chains.
Each dish was perfectly cooked and marinated. The buttermilk batter is crisp and flavoursome (nothing worse than oily soggy batter). The chicken is tender and succulent. What more do you want?
The Crafty poutine was tasty.. the picked onions were missing from both of them however this didn’t stop the chips melting in my mouth with all the gravy and cheese.
Their sauces are deliciously too and taste homemade. It wasn’t all protein and carbs we tucked into; The chilli chinese greens (pan choi) were full of flavour and the kimchi was delicious.
They have a good bar at King Richard III so you never leave thirsty or be stuck for what to order. They have a good selection of soft drinks, cocktails and beer including Leicesters very own Burleighs Gin.
Overall it is a place you should try at least once. It may not be your best venue for that fried chicken but it sure is worth a try. The portions are reasonable and the dishes are tasty.
