I am slightly embarrassed to say this was the first time I tried Chef Vivek Singh’s food. Every canapé I ate was bursting with flavour and delicious. Having spoken to many and after my first experience, I can confirm it is a restaurant you have to add onto your list. I will definitely going back.
Chef Vivek adds a modern twist to traditional dishes by creating great and exciting fusions yet keeping those core ingredients. He works with game meat too and does a fantastic job in combining it to make delicate beautiful dishes using quality ingredients.
Some of the delicious dishes I tried on the evening were:
Lamb seekh kebab wrapped in roomali roti, Potato and green pea cake with smoked tomato chutney, Shrimps with a curry leaf and chilli flavour served with passion fruit salsa, Venison spring roll, Golguppa, Hyderabadi Lamb Biryani with cucumber raita, Pistachio Rolls, Laddoo that practically melted in my mouth & Jalebi.
We also enjoyed an array of cocktails on the night including Bhaang Lasso and Holika Fire.
Once we were fed and watered, Chef Vivek talked about Holi and the “HouseofHoli” event that he has been running the past few years at Cinnamon Kitchen. It is clear he has great passion for this festival and why not!
Ready for some more fun now, we got into our trendy white overalls, grabbed a couple of bags of powdered colour and started playing Holi in “party pod” set up in the courtyard. The idea is to look as colourful as possible and worry about the clearing up after.. messy but so much fun! The inner child in me came out and it brought back memories of playing Holi with family and friends back in Kenya (where I was brought up).
