Bodega serves South American inspired cuisine. Based in St Martins Square, Leicester, the restaurant has a smart casual vibe and is perfect for that bargain lunch meal ( £6) or a lovely meal topped with some amazing cocktails.
They have recently launched a new food menu which has got some of the classics alongside some new dishes & recipes changes (love a restaurant that always works to improve). They also have a Vegan menu and their kitchen are always happy to help customers with dietary requirements.
The restaurant is suitable for all ages. You can have a casual meal or a romantic one.. the choice is there. Alternatively you can just go there for cocktails and enjoy their Happy Hour. Bodega offer cocktail masterclasses too and they sure know how to make a great cocktail.
The service is always on point with staff always being knowledgeable & friendly. Bodega prides itself in offering brilliant customer service.
The Leicester branch also has a section upstairs that you can hire our for private events.
I have been for drinks a few times and I can confirm they do a good range of cocktails, mocktails and wine.
On the night I enjoyed a Passion Fruit Twist. A mocktail made with apple and lemon juice with passion fruit syrup and beautiful garnished with a dried orange slice. Mocktails are £3 which I think is great value for money (especially when made with lots of love).
What I love about Bodega is you can pick and chose what you want from the menu. You ca either just have small plates or a mixture of both.
House Nachos: Bodega Nachos are one of a kind and until you try them you will not understand how good they are. The nachos are homemade and perfectly golden brown. Topped with cheese, jalapeños, salsa, guacamole & sour cream these always go down a treat.
Mexican Cola Wings: Three big juicy coated wings were served in a house blend Mexican Cola Syrup. The sauce was the correct consistency, had some heat with a little bit of sweetness in it. The wings were cooked perfectly and the meat just fell off the bone.
Grilled Halloumi: This is a new addition to the menu. Grilled Halloumi is a favourite of mine and three pieces of it were served with a fresh pineapple salsa and chimichurri dressing. Simple amazing! The flavours and textures balanced out really well.
Vegetable Ceviche: Chopped sweet potatoes, cauliflower, cucumber, red onions and spring onions came marinated in a tangy juices. The dish was refreshing and worked really well as a side. This is another new addition to the menu. The citrus juice brought out the flavours of the vegetables and the dish worked really well with the Brazilian Xim Xim.
Quesadillas Chipotle Beef Brisket Chilli: Kev went for this dish. From the moment the waitress said they had a new recipe for the chilli and used shredded instead of mince beef he had his eye on it. The Quesadillas were filled well with the chilli and cheese and were served with a homemade salsa. The consistency was perfect and the chilli had a great flavour to it.
Brazilian Xim Xim: This is another Bodega favourite of mine. Juicy chicken and prawns were coated in a creamy peanut sauce and served with a smoked rice. The combination worked really well. The sauce did not have an over powering peanut taste which I liked. The creamy texture went well with the rice too which had beans and sweetcorn in it.
Bodega also has locations in Birmingham city centre, Worcester & Sutton Coldfield.
I was invited to try out the new menu at Bodega. This review is based on my honest opinion.
