Low and Slow, Red’s True BBQ is now serving food in Leicester at Brew Dog.
The concept is simple, they prepare the tastiest of Barbecued dishes while Brew Dog handle the best brews.
On my first visit I tucked into their ribs and giant chicken wing combo. Every bite was finger licking good especially when paired with their fired up fries.
When I went along to the launch night I went for the Vegan option (the meat option had a lot of beef which I don’t eat however I did pick on a few items that I would have) … yes they have a Vegan option and it’s one not to miss!
The atmosphere was buzzing and vibrant. The evening started off with some networking before we were all called upstairs and seated. There was a band playing which added to the vibe. The staff were all upbeat and provided a great service through out.
Food:
Course 1:
Nibbles: There was a selection of snacks to nibble on the table including beef jerky, pork scratching, almonds and tofu crunch. I am not a beer drinker however this was surprisingly nice with citrus notes and was easy to drink.
Course 2:
Popcorn Jackfruit: the crisp fried jackfruit bites were served with a Louisiana sauce dipper. Perfect consistency and taste. This was paired with the Punk IPA.
Mac and Cheese Balls: The most delicious cheesy balls served with the BrewDog Punk IPA dipper. They were soft and just melted in my mouth.
The meat eaters enjoyed the above with some chicken winglets and rib lollipops.
Course 3:
Mini Mountains Burger: A 100% plant-based patty, served on a vegan bun with vegan cheese, vegan mayo, tomato, lettuce, onion, pickled gherkins and Unholy BBQ sauce. Perfectly put together and totally delicious! I got to try a donut burger too and the combination of sweet and salty was lip smacking good.
The meat platter contained a mini donut burger and mini classic bacon cheeseburger. Both options were paired with Elvis Juice and came with golden brown fries.
Course 4:
Pulled Jackfruit and Slaw: The pulled jackfruit had the same consistency as the pork and the same flavouring. It was a great alternative and was served with some broccoli, tangy slaw and tofu crunch.
Memphis Pork Belly Bites, Brisket & Burnt Ends on Texas toast and pulled pork & slaw was enjoyed by the other dinner guests. This course was paired with Lost Lager.
Course 5:
Chocolate Brownie & Ice Cream: Just when we thought we could not eat any more the warm chocolate brownie was delivered. The ice-cream was melting perfectly and it was hard to resist the dessert. Within 2 minutes all plates were clean it was that good.
The brownie was paired with Jet Black Heart, a smooth rich stout.
