Thousands of tourists have their cameras out to get that perfect shot of this “show stopper” hotel on Euston Road, London. I walk past the St Pancras Renaissance Hotel on my way to work and have always wondered what it would be like to stay a night.
I was invited to a blogger event at the hotel and this was my perfect opportunity to stay over, so I did.
I was a bit early and needed to leave my bags at the hotel. Lovely Sandra checked me in and said I would get a call when my room was ready. First impressions always count and last. I knew that this wasn’t the end of the fantastic service I would get.
I got the call and went back to the hotel around 230pm. My bag was all ready for me in my room.
A bit about the hotel
St Pancras has five-star amenities and apart from St Pancras station which is connected to it, the hotel is located close to tube links from King’s Cross Station and Euston Station. Camden Town, and the buzzing Coal Drops Yard are walking distance from the hotel.
It originally opened in 1873 as The Midland Grand Hotel. 138 years later it reopened as The St Pancras Renaissance Hotel. The building has Gothic Architecture with huge glass windows, pointed arches & gothic fanlights. The hotel is also home to the most majestic arched stairwell in the country, “The Grand Staircase”. It sure is a distinct hotel.
There is a beautiful lobby as you walk in and the hotel has a few dining options connected to it including the Booking Office, Gilbert & Scott, The Hansom, George’s Bar and Mi + Me.
The room:
I got checked into a Superior Room overlooking the British Museum.
The room had a king size bed and was warmly decorated in soft browns and ivories. The decor and character of the room were different from the rest of the hotel (someone told me we were in the newer so that may be why). There was an arc window that gave it some character. The room was simple & clean.
The bathroom, which had a shower came with the normal amenities you would expect.
The room had a coffee machine, stocked mini bar and a selection of tea pig teas to choose from.
For the location, the room was a reasonable size.
Breakfast:
We enjoyed a grand breakfast at The Booking Office. This is the Bar & Restaurant, located by the lounge, that serves delicious all-day dining.
The breakfast was hearty and we had a great selection to choose from. Starting with fresh juices to perfectly made waffles there was something for everyone. To make the most of the breakfast get there early. This will allow you to pace yourselves.
The service was flawless and the staff ensured we were satisfied.
Combined with the beautiful setting, this was a great start to the day.
I was envious of the bar and the selection but didn’t get a chance to try the cocktails out. One of the reasons to return.
Spa, Gym & Pool
Early morning we went for a dip in their amazing indoor pool. The pool was heated which was a bonus for me and had a beautiful setting.
Dotted around the pool area are lounging chairs. There are magazines around for guests to read along.
There is also a steam room and outside you can help yourself to a cold face towel.
The women’s lockers had a fluffy dressing gown, flip flops, and a waffle towel. The changing rooms have a sauna each.
This was the perfect way to start the day.
The service was exceptional throughout the visit. The staff were always happy to help and made us feel like valued guests. I would recommend a visit to the hotel even if it is just for that cup of coffee.

I hadn’t heard of this hotel before, but I’m looking for a place to stay for my first ever night in London this October. I have a layover there and am super excited. The hotel looks beautiful, I’m going to see if I can book a room here during my layover. Thanks for putting this idea in my head!

Wow. The St Pancras looks like a castle inside and out! That’s a really cool idea to stay in a hotel that you pass by on your way to work. It’s good to hear that you had a great experience right from the start with your interaction with the receptionist, and everything from that breakfast buffet to the spa look so regal!
