The service was upbeat and staff were there to ensures customers had a great dining experience. Nothing was too much for them.
The Soul Food:
The mouth-watering main menu has a good selection of food for many tastes and is split well: Small Plates, Chicken, Burgers & Mac n Cheese. They also do breakfast/brunch and sharer menus. I plan on going to go back soon for breakfast because the choices sound so amazing.
For now, here is a taste of what we had on the day:
Chicken and Waffles: Perfect fried buttermilk chicken (Harlem’s famous fried yardbird) with two melt in your mouth fluffy waffles served with maple syrup and sweet potato fries. I added bacon too and it was just so good. The portion size was reasonable and the textures of the waffle and chicken were perfect. The fries had the right crunch too and were a nice addition to the dish.
Ghetto Spicy Seasoned Fish Brioche: Seasoned and well fried white fish sandwiched in toasted brioche with spicy aioli, tomatoes, lettuce, pickles, and house slaw. This was an amazing fish finger sandwich and went down well with a portion of fries. The fish has the correct consistency and the flavours were great. My dad is a fussy eater and this went down a treat with him. The burgers come with fries as standard.
Uptown Mac: The Holy Moly soul-satisfying Mac n Cheese is made with a combination of white cheddar, red Cheddar, stringy mozzarellas and grand padano! The uptown one comes with an addition of wild mushroom truffle oil and is topped with crispy onions & chives. The macaroni was cooked on point and still had that bite to it. The combination of cheeses made the mac delicious.
The Real McCoy: Holy Mac also caters for Vegan and you can tuck into their Mac no Cheese. Made with their homemade tangy tomato and basil sauce. I thought it would not have much flavour to it but it did. My mum has this and she said it was delicious. You can spice it up with one of their sauces for that kick.
House Slaw: A portion of slaw always combines a meal together especially when it involves fried chicken and chips? The slaw had the right consistency and was well seasoned.
Drinks:
From Ice Cold Harlem Shakes shakes to bottomless drinks Holy Moly has a good range on offer. For those wanting a cocktail, they have happy hour 5PM – 8PM, where two cocktails are £11 (selected cocktails).
On the day, between us, we had Brooklyn Larger, diet coke, and a freak shake.
Smooth Dark Soulful Stack: Yes it is a freak shake but it is one that you can manage and that is what I liked about it. Vanilla ice cream, chocolate sauce, lashings of whipped cream and stacked with rich dark brownie pieces and more chocolate sauce. This works well as a dessert too. The only downside was ice was added into the shake and as I drank it tasted watered down.
