Leicester has a great Leisure scene and you don’t need to travel to the city centre to find parking. It is located just off the motorway and has ample free parking.
With many places to eat, a cinema, child play area, fitness centre & ten pin bowling alley, Meridian Leicester is perfect for that date night, social meetup or family day out.
I was recently invited to an evening at Meridian Leisure Park.
We started with a game of bowling at Hollywood Bowl
. Lucky for us we had a VIP section which has comfy lounge seating as well as all the other special touches. The bowling alley looks funky and upmarket. In the VIP lanes, you can get service right where you are with a click of a button. Each lane has a Hollywood legend overlooking each VIP lane and the pins are coloured.
Within Hollywood Bowl, there is a bar/diner, dedicated games area & an arcade. Plenty of seating is available. They currently have a Christmas promotion on too for those who need to organise a get-together.
Whilst bowling, we enjoyed some mocktails and a plate of loaded nachos. I would have liked the mocktails to have a bit of flair to them however they tasted good. The nachos were amazing- right cheese balance and perfectly cooked.
The game was fun and clearly tested my bowling skills. Let’s not talk about the scores….
It was time for starters and we headed over to Harvester. The farmhouse-style restaurant had a modern feel to it, especially with the hanging plants. There was a good selection to choose from on the menu including dishes made from Quorn.
I picked the garlic and chilli prawns and went for a spiced strawberry mocktail.
I was disappointed that the mocktail didn’t have some sort of garnish in it. It had a light pepper taste to it as per the description.
The starters all looked delicious. The prawns were nice but could have been better. They tasted boiled and like they were not cooked in the sauce for long which gave them less of a flavour. The garlic bread it came with was perfectly toasted and had the right amount of garlic in it.
Frankie & Benny’s
It was time for mains and Frankie & Bennys
was our next stop for it, the Italian -American themed restaurant.
You definitely get the feel of a Diner when you walk in and the classic music always makes me feel welcome.
After seeing the neon sign that said “who gets the Last Slice” I decided to go for a pizza.
I chose the Pollo Peppadew. Cajun dusted chicken, Peppadew peppers, red onions, mozzarella & tomato. The pizza was hot and looked delicious. It could have done with more cheese and the chicken could have been flavoured as per the menu. The dough was perfect and the meal was enjoyable. I enjoyed a hot chocolate at the end of the meal.
You can also enjoy food at some of Meridian Leisure Park’s other eateries: Pizza Hut, Nandos, Chiquitos, Bella Italia, Tastes Chinese, Five Guys & Burger King so you are never stuck for ideas on what to eat.
I was invited to an evening at Frankie & Benny’s. All opinions are genuine and are my own.
