Part of a small independent pub and hotel company, The Village Moseley has a relaxing bar area and a freestyle restaurant that offers Bottomless brunches, Quiz & Pizza nights and a lot more.

Ambience & Service

I went to the pub on a Friday night and was welcomed by some live music. The environment was warm and relaxing.

The decor was modern yet cosy with filament light bulbs hanging by the restaurant seating area and velvet seating areas dotted around. There were a few booths and some larger open tables for customers to eat or just have a drink. I also stumbled across their pick and mix corner – now that was a treat.

The staff were upbeat and on the day our server offered us a great service. The staff generally seemed to be enjoying their job and were quick at clearing tables and assisting customers.

Drinks

As well as serving Craft Beer, the pub has an extensive list of cocktails, gins & soft drinks. On the evening I went for the Floradora which had Bombay gin, Chambord & ginger beer.  A popular cocktail with the high society in the 1900’s this went down a treat.

The designated driver, Kev, had a ginger beer which was served chilled just like it should be.

Food

The pub has an extensive menu of appetising items. There was a great range of Vegan and Gluten-Free on there too. From pizzas to sharers there was something for everyone. They serve Sunday Roast too.

Starters:

Hot & Spicy Chicken Wings: The wings were perfectly cooked and coated. There was a slight spice flavour and the wings were tasty especially with the serving of slaw they came with.

Spiced Falafel &  Tahini Dip: A tahini, honey and yoghurt dip went so went with the perfectly textured and flavoured falafels. The starter came with half a wrap and salad.

Mains:

King Prawn XimXim: A favourite dish of the server, this looked really appetising. The chicken and juicy prawn dish came in a fragrant coconut & peanut sauce with peppers, red onions and sunflower seeds for that crunch. It was served with lime rice and homemade nachos.

Herb Fishcake: The fishcake was made with haddock, salmon & prawn and was gluten-free. The fishcake was served with a generous portion of fries, salad and tartare sauce. The fishcake was slightly on the dry side but still tasty.

Dessert:

We were really full at this point but could not resist a dessert to share. We went for the Spiced Apple Crumble. The crumble was served hot with a jug of custard. I am that custard person. The crumble was cooked well and had a good apple balance.
