Date night at East Street Lanes

OK, Kev and I usually pass on date nights that involve eating out simply because we generally do that a lot. We prefer something that involves some sort of entertainment and a place that has a buzz. Gone are the days of candlelit dinners though I occasionally do love that.

I was invited to East Street Lanes for a game of bowling, some food, and cocktails.

You can read more about the actual venue in my previous post.

Once we settled into our lane, which has comfy seats and a cute lampshade on the table (a trunk), we chose our game. They have a variety of games to choose from and this determines the animation you get one your screen too. We went for KaPow.

On the lanes, you can press a button to call for assistance and service making the evening more of an experience. Our server came and took our order for cocktails and said our food would be brought out shortly.

We started playing and as soon as Kev found the perfect ball I knew where the game was going. It was still fun, and I managed to get quite a few half strikes.

Halfway through our food and cocktails were brought to the lane. We had a Veggie sharing platter, Mud Pie Hard Shake and The Page 3 cocktail.

The Page 3 came in a Stoli copper mug and was garnished with lime. It was vodka-based and had lovely tones of vanilla, passion and pineapple. I could have easily had a few of these because it was an easy drinker.

Kev had the Mud Pie Hard Shake. Vanilla ice cream, crushed Oreos with some chocolate syrup and chocolate dusting. Served in a proper shake mug and mixed well this went down a treat. Obviously, I had to drink some of his because it was just like a dessert.

The sharing platter was a good portion size and had spring rolls, sweet potato falafels, halloumi fries and warm ciabatta all with served on a board with some dips. It was all cooked well and enjoyable. I would have liked some additional non-fried item on the platter just to give it that balance. You can order other platters and even Nachos whilst at the lanes.

If you fancy eating at a table, then East Street Lanes have a nice dining area with a bar. They also have a great food selection which includes burgers.

The staff were all upbeat and we both enjoyed the evening. Definitely a great date night and look forward to more nights like this (especially when there is some element of competition).
