Leicester has a new addition, a modern hotel based in the heart of the city centre. A stones throw from Highcross, the newly developed Waterside and the upcoming Great Central Sqaure, Novotel is in a prime location.
I don’t live in the town centre and having the luxury of going shopping and enjoying the night scene in Leicester, only to walk a few steps to bed was a pleasure. The hotel is built with one side facing the centre and around the lift area on each floor you can see the city. The Cathedral stands out well.
Here is what to expect from the Novotel:
- Clean, modern and stylish interiors
- Fresh decor through out the hotel
- 154 air-conditioned rooms ranging from double rooms to a presidential suite.
- 24-hour reception desk
- Well equipped fitness centre
- Room service
- Parking
- Meeting & Function rooms
- Beautiful adjoining independent restaurant and bar (NineB)
The entrance leads you to a beautifully lit reception area with velvet seating and scatter cushions which give it that homely feel. The hotel has chosen warm colours to welcome their guests with the perfect lighting to create a warm ambiance. Novotel Leicester has been stylishly kitted out with boutique touches which gives it a modern and comfortable touch.
Around the lobby, there are seating areas ideal for those who have a business meeting or just fancy a quiet coffee.
The checking in process was swift and efficient. The same applied when checking out. The staff were efficient and there to help.
When I came for the open evening of the hotel back in January, I had a tour around the hotel and got to see some of the suites. The interiors were well thought out and personalised which is unusual for a big chain. At that time the presidential suite was booked for about month so we did not get a chance to view it but it sounded amazing.
THE HOTEL ROOM
On the evening Kev & I stayed in Room 215, which was a double room with a sofa bed. The spacious double room had a king-size bed. The room itself didn’t have a mirror however there was a big well-lit mirror in the bathroom as well a smaller face mirror. There was a table that moved up and down too which would work perfect for anyone wanting to do work.
The room had blackout curtains and soundproof double glazed windows which meant that we could not hear the cars driving by the busy road and we had a peaceful night sleep.
Amenities in the room included an ironing board, safe, hairdryer, fridge, a pull-out sofa bed, USB charging points and tea & coffee making facilities. There was also some custard creams for us to enjoy.
The bathroom had a bathtub alongside a sink and toilet. The bathtub had two shower heads which were ideal for that powerful shower in the morning. There was only soap, shower gel & shampoo in the bathroom however guests could call reception and ask for any other amenities required.
The room was spacious with ample cupboard storage space and a good-sized luggage rack.
There was a room service menu too that had a good selection to pick from.
The hotel has a fitness centre and on our stay, Kev had a quick session in the morning to build an appetite for breakfast. There was a range of equipment in the centre and it was well maintained too.
Parking is available at £10 per night at this Novotel. Leicester has a confusing one-way system so it may seem tricky to find the parking however it is near the hotel. I would advise to call them if you get lost.
NINE B
The next morning breakfast was served at the independent NineB restaurant. You can read all about the decor and set up of the restaurant here (my other post that tells you more about what the restaurant offers [AD]).
Cereals, pastries, fruit, cold meat & cheese, as well as a good hot breakfast selection, was on offer in the morning. You can even order your eggs just the way you like them and that is exactly what we did. Perfectly poached eggs were delivered by the chef to our table. There were two coffee machines available too for guests to help themselves to that perfect latte in the morning..
We had a lovely stay at Novotel Leicester. The hotel was clean and well maintained through out. The decor was modern and created a warm ambiance.

The hotel looks very modern and the rooms spacious. I would definitely choose if for a stay in Leicester. I can’t recall if I ever stayed at a Novotel before but my childhood friend is actually the reception manager of a Novotel in another country and she always posts beautiful photos from there.

It’s looks gorgeous, very tastefully decorated. Great that there is nearby parking just for the hotel too, I always worry in cities about cars being left overnight
