Listed on the Michelin guide as an intimate restaurant run with natural warmth by its experienced owners, Hammer & Pincers is a modern British Gastropub located in Leicestershire.
Hammer and Pincers provides a place to enjoy a great meal in a relaxed setting whether it be for date night or a social catch up with friends and family. Brick walls, warm lighting, wooden beams, modern wall art all give it that rustic setting. I love their ethos of supporting locals even local restaurants. They have a wall with different menus from nearby restaurants to promote them.
The staff are experienced, trained and deliver a service with a smile. They ensure customers are comfortable and having a great experience.
The restaurant also has a great outdoor space for those wanting to dine Al Fresco.
The food is great value for money. Each dish is made to perfection and created with seasonal produce.
We opted for the Lunch Menu which is £35 for three courses. In addition to three courses, you get a good portion of fresh bread and amuse-bouche at the start of the meal and before the main course.
To start with had a little broad bean hummus in a pastry case. Delicate and beautiful to start the meal.
The bread selection included fresh warm walnut and raisin and sourdough onion buns. Served with soft butter and baba ganoush.
Chicken Liver Parfait: A light but flavoursome delicate parfait served with pickled capers and shallots with a slice of toasted brioche
Miso & Sesame Tuna Loin: Beautiful slightly tuna loin served with wasabi mayonnaise, nori topiaca for texture and a citrus-based sauce ponzu
Herb & Black Garlic crusted lamb fillet: The dish came with a braised belly croque, truffled onion potato pressing, charred leek and rosemary jus. The lamb was tender and juicy and the dish was simply divine.
Rose Harissa Roast Hake Fillet: The flaky well cooked piece of Hake was served on a bed of saffron potatoes, lovage purée, lemon butter sauce and a smoked paprika (dulce) vinaigrette. The flavours just created a magical taste and the textures worked so well together.
New Season Strawberries: Refreshing strawberry slices were compressed with Hibiscus liqueur and served with a lemon curd ice cream and vanilla meringue. It was a perfect summer dessert with a balance of sweet and tangy.
Chocolate Praline Petit Gateux: Rich yet delicious, this praline was served with some muscavado ice cream and Hazelnut & Lime butterscotch. It was a chocolate lovers dream.
To end the meal we had some complimentary mango and passion marshmallows. They were so delicious.
The full dining experience at Hammer & Pincers was enjoyable and it is somewhere I would highly recommend. The pub is working on offering luxury overnight stays and I can only imagine it will be a fantastic stay too.
