Laura Ashley not only has beautiful shops that sell a range of high-quality British fabrics and furnishings, but they also have lovely Laura Ashley hotels.
A recently had an overnight stay at The Iliffe in Coventry. Previously the Chase Hotel, the refurbished hotel has a lot of the traditional features from the Victorian times with an addition of Laura Ashley accents to give it that chic look. The balance of the old and new works really well.
The front of the hotel stands out with the wooden panel features and the interior boasts some of my favourite Laura Ashley furniture.
The hotel also had a pretty garden and little hut for those warm summer days.
Located 3 miles from the city centre, the hotel is situated in a great location. Close to the motorway and other towns. There is ample parking on-site too.
The Iliffe has some great rooms perfect for weddings and meetings.
Lobby/Bar Area
Decorated with Laura Ashley furnishings, the lobby has a relaxed welcoming feel to it. There is a reception desk where you check-in. Having this setup definitely gives it that warm personal touch.
The lobby has lovely cosy seating areas. If you just fancy a drink there is a bar too. The bar has an array of drinks and I did enjoy the delicious Pimms.
On the evening, the Major of Coventry cut the ribbon and welcomed the hotel. It was clear she was so proud to have such a beautiful addition to Coventry. It was a reason to celebrate.
The Rooms:
There are 17 rooms and they all have a cute boutique feel to it. Rooms are spacious and have the standard amenities including gowns, slippers. and tea/coffee making facilities. Not to forget fluffy towels, cotton pads & vanity kits. The Laura Ashley Hotel rooms also have a retro DAB radio and the Laura Ashley Mascot (a cute white cuddly bunny which you can take home). Superior rooms come with a shower whereas Deluxe ones with a bathtub. We stayed in Room No 16, a Superior Room.
We had a tour around one of the Signature rooms and the Deluxe rooms too. They all looked so beautiful but the winner for me was the Signature room with its 4 poster bed and floral wallpaper. Their rooms are all decorated in different styles showing off the Laura Ashley furnishings. They have that modern yet classic touch to it and inspired me to decorate my house.
It is Laura Ashley so expect to have a good night sleep because they have picked their best mattresses and pillows. On the note of pillows can we take a moment to appreciate the pillow menu.
Food:
Dinner and breakfast are served in the resident fine dining restaurant, The Willows. On the evening we enjoyed a four-course meal.
We started with Scottish scallops which were so delicate and flavoursome, followed by an intermediate course of figs, blue cheese and local honey salad. I managed to take photos of the Vegan option the guest on my table had (Mushroom Kiev and 3 Way Asparagus).
My main meal was Rump of Lamb that was cooked to perfection and so juicy. When the plate was delivered I could just smell the flavours including the roast shallot and light jus.
To end the meal we had tasty British strawberries that were paired with basil leaves, clotted set cream and shortbread biscuits. I followed that with a loose-leaf green tea just to add that healthy end.
Every course was plated well and simply delicious. Where possible the hotel sources its ingredients locally and the menu is seasonal too. This is evident in the flavours and quality of the food. Just looking at the photos again is making me hungry.
The courses were carefully paired with wine too.
For breakfast, you could pick from an array of items from their buffet table and at the table pick what cooked breakfast you want. Whilst the cooked breakfast was being prepared I enjoyed some fresh fruit. The server was quick and efficient in taking our order too. This was perfect especially as we had to get to work.
Kev & I went for the Full English which came with sautéed potatoes. The portion was generous and the breakfast was cooked perfectly. We were set for the day.
If you have time you can squeeze in Laura Ashley Afternoon Tea too during your stay. You can read about it here.
Hope you have been able to get a glimpse of what it is like to stay at the hotel from this post.
The Laura Ashely Hotel brand is growing and I am not surprised why. Currently, they have two locations, The Belsfield at Lake District and The Iliffe in Coventry. Very shortly Burnham Beeches in Slough will join the group too.
I enjoyed my Laura Ashley Hotel experience and cannot wait to visit some of their other ones. To book The Iliffe, visit the website, call them on +44 330 0583858 or email reservations.theiliffe@lauraashleyhotels.com

Oh wowza! We didn’t see the Signature Room but it looks INCREDIBLE. A great honeymoon suite! So lovely to meet you, I wish we’d have had longer to chat – and lovely write up of what I know is going to be a real gem in the crown of Coventry.
